Because Real Madrid decided to sell Martin Odegaard this summer, Arsenal’s deal is ‘almost done’

Revealed: Why did Real Madrid decide to sell Martin Odegaard this summer? Arsenal deal is 'almost done'

Martin Odegaard at Arsenal

The last day or so has seen Arsenal’s ties with Martin Odegaard increase, and now it looks like a deal is very close to being completed.

Reports It would start to emerge in the Spanish press on Tuesday night stating that Real Madrid’s negotiations with Arsenal to sell Odegaard are at a very advanced stage and the deal could be imminent.

Since then, the deal for Odegaard has been picked up in the British media, with fees of around £ 30-35 million being touted by various sources:

A Spanish journalist has also come to suggest that Odegaard will not be a Madrid player later today (Wednesday).

Why Real is selling Odegaard

However, why has Real Madrid now decided to sell the 22-year-old?

After returning from his Arsenal loan stint, we covered reports in June that said Odegaard was expected to stay in Madrid for the 2021/22 campaign.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an idea why Los Blancos are now letting the midfielder go.

And, as mentioned above, the Real really were looking to keep Odegaard according to Romano.

However, his plan was to sell Isco and keep the Norwegian. But since Isco had no proposals this summer, Real would agree that they would instead part ways with Odegaard and stay with Isco:

Real Madrid hoped to stay with Martin Odegaard, give him a chance, sell Isco and keep Odegaard.

And then what happened? Isco had no proposals this summer, so Real Madrid decided together with Carlo Ancelotti to sell Martin Odegaard and stay with Isco because they had no proposals.

Arsenal was waiting and waiting and waiting. I always say that if they have a one percent chance, they will go for Martin Odegaard and this is what they did.

Waiting and waiting and waiting until the end of the market and now the deal is complete. The rate will be around 35-40 million euros. Everything has been agreed between Real Madrid and Arsenal, now they are at the time of the procedures, then that will be signed and it will be completed but it is almost done, so it is a here we go for Arsenal.
