Amad Diallo would join Manchester United from Atalanta in last year’s summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old would spend much of his first season lining up for Man United’s Under-23 squad.

But he was still able to make eight senior category appearances and would score his first goal for the Red Devils in a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Europa League.

But given Diallo’s age, lack of first-team experience and the fact that Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho this summer, it wasn’t too surprising to see reports earlier this month suggesting the Ivorian would be leaving United on loan. this summer:

Does Diallo want to stay at Man United?

However, if Diallo has his way, it seems he would rather stay at Old Trafford this year.

Diallo was speaking to the Man United club media about his recent stint at the Olympics and in doing so seemed to drop some clues as to what he wants for his future this season.

First of all, he stated that we (Man United) are working very hard to make sure they can achieve their goals this year:

“The first training session back with the team gives you a great feeling, because I’ve been home for two weeks [quarantining].

“Now I am back with the team, the team is in very good shape and we are working very hard to make sure we can achieve our goals this year.”

If Diallo wanted to go on loan, he probably wouldn’t be speaking of Man United’s goals for the year as his own.

Then, speaking about the Man United vs Leeds fans, Diallo suggested again that he plans to be present for this campaign, stating that he is confident that the fans will give them the support they need to do great things this season:

“It was an incredible game. Go out there and win the first game 5-1, what better way to start the season.

“We were waiting for the fans to come back to Old Trafford for a long time and it’s amazing to have them back. I’m sure they will give us the support we need to do great things this season. “

And finally, Diallo spoke about training with top-level players like Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and the new Man United signings, and stated that it is important for him to train with them and learn from them, something that, of course, he could not do. while on loan:

“It’s incredible for me to train with players like us, to see Bruno and Paul up close, it’s really exciting. As a young player you can learn a lot from them and they also help you on the field.

“[The new players] They are great players, great boys, and I am very happy to train with them. For me it is important to train with them and learn from them ”.
