How Liverpool Can Get Extraordinary Financial Gains From Ben Davies Loan

Jurgen Klopp

Ben Davies joins Sheffield United

Liverpool’s 2020/21 campaign was a nightmare.

The Reds were unlucky with injuries that saw their central defense department hit particularly badly.

All Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip would face extended stints on the sidelines during 2020/21.

This would lead Jurgen Klopp to deploy Fabinho and Jordan Henderson as makeshift defenders. But even they, too, had injury problems of their own.

In the end, Liverpool were forced to enter the market during the winter window, bringing in both Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies.

The former was loaned and he would later form a decent partnership with Natt Phillips at the heart of Liverpool’s defense.

Davies, however, was permanently signed from Preston and was not allowed a single appearance for the Reds first team.

And now, with the aforementioned midfield trio’s back adjustment and Ibrahima Konate also signed this summer, Davies’ chances of playing for Liverpool became even slimmer.

So it wasn’t too surprising to see it become official on Monday that Davies joined the championship team Sheffield United on a one-season loan.

How Liverpool could win £ 500,000

Although it is only a loan, Liverpool could be in line for a nice financial windfall with the move.

According to him Mirror, the Blades have already paid a £ 500,000 loan commission.

But Liverpool could earn an additional £ 500,000 if Sheffield United secure promotion to the Premier League:
