An update on Arsenal’s move to lure Martin Odegaard back to the club before the transfer window slammed shut was released Monday night.

Stint Gunners

Norwegian creator Odegaard, of course, spent the second half of last season practicing his trade in North London.

After fighting for playing time following his return to parent club Real Madrid last summer, it was decided that another loan period outside the Bernabéu would be the best for his development.

In turn, Arsenal, clamoring for creativity, swooped in to secure a 6-month loan deal for the 22-year-old.

Odegaard subsequently went on to enjoy something of an unpredictable spell at the Emirates, showing off his unquestionable talent in stellar displays against players like West Ham and Brighton.

However, these performances were too often followed by ineffective and poor starts by the Norwegian international.

In turn, it was not a huge surprise when speculation about Arsenal’s interest in making Odegaard’s stay permanent began to fade towards the end of the season.

Return the letters?

The midfielder, as a result, finally returned to Madrid last month, with initial reports having suggested that Whites coach Carlo Ancelotti had every intention of making use of Odegaard’s talent during the upcoming season.

However, in recent weeks there has been an increase in rumors to the contrary.

And, on Monday, a new perspective on the situation will be released.

The information comes courtesy of Sky Sports, who, during a debate on ‘The Transfer Show’, confirmed that the negotiations between Arsenal and Real Madrid, as things stand, are well under way.

The talks in question revolve around how a possible return of Odegaard to the Emirates would be structured, with a fee in the region of 35 to 40 million pounds.

Meanwhile, those in a position of power in North London are said to be “cautiously optimistic” that, with the transfer window closing at the end of the month, the Norwegian will once again be a Arsenal player.

This comes with Odegaard himself eager to return to the Premier League.
