Tottenham sack Manchester City

The first week of the Premier League match of the 2021/22 season came to an end recently.

The final clash of the weekend would see Tottenham host reigning champions Manchester City.

The Sky Blues headed into the tie as favorites, especially when it was confirmed that Harry Kane was not on the team of the day.

And while Manchester City started the tie with the front foot and probably should have scored in the first 15-20 minutes, it would be Spurs who broke the deadlock in North London.

Steven Bergwijn broke the counterattack before slipping on Heung-min Son, who went on to score the only goal of the day:

Son talks about the future of Tottenham

After his winning exhibition, Son was questioned about his future at Tottenham.

The South Korean signed for the Lilywhites in 2015 and recently signed new terms until 2025.

Had he seen his current contract, he would have been with the Spurs for a decade.

And when asked if this is something he would like to see happen after Man City, Son said yes, before going on to state that he does not want to change clubs again:

“Yes, if I can stay another four years and football is never promised, let’s see. That’s why I signed because I don’t want to move to another place again.

“I could be here for 10 years or more than 10 years, you never know what will happen in the future, but I try to be focused every day, I try to improve every day and every season. I think mindset is more important than testimony after 10 years.

“I did not expect to end the contract so soon because I had a couple of years left. They showed how much they love me, I’ve already played here for six years, but they give me so much and I wanted to give something in return.

“I am very grateful to be here, it is an honor to play for this club. Another four years, I think we can achieve great things. “
