David Moyes Provides Encouraging Transfer Update To West Ham

Incoming Reinforcements: David Moyes Provides Encouraging Update On West Ham Transfers

West Ham United manager David Moyes was drawn tonight by the club’s planned transfer activity for the final weeks of the summer.

The transfer window, up to this point, has of course turned out to be completely quiet at the London Stadium.

On the departure front, the Irons board has sanctioned budget departures for both defender Fabián Balbuena and attacker Felipe Anderson.

However, when it comes to innings, West Ham has so far only managed to make the arrival of Craig Dawson permanent, and bring in a backup for stopper Lukasz Fabianski, in the form of Alphonse Areola.

Such shortcomings have led to understandable concern on the part of the West Ham faithful, with a hit or miss season for the club in store.

This comes with the team from the capital aiming to establish themselves amongst the Premier League elite, having defied the odds en route to a place in the Europa League last time.

‘Add a defender’

However, as described above, if the latest comments from the club boss are anything to follow, then West Ham supporters, thus far, need not worry.

Speaking on the back of opening day 4-2 of the Hammers defeating Newcastle United this afternoon, David Moyes was asked for an update on possible club membership.

When specifically asked if the departure of the young Frederik Alves meant that defensive reinforcements were imminent, the Scotsman explained:

“No, when I brought in Frederik Alves I felt like I had to take a look at him for six months to see what he can do and if it wasn’t going to affect the first team, he would be loaned out.”

However, from here on, Moyes was adamant that arrivals will take place in East London for the next several weeks, revealing:

“I have Jamal, a 17-year-old midfielder, whom I want to participate in the first team training sessions, but without a doubt I will try to join the squad.”

“I’ll add a defender and maybe other players as well, but if I don’t, I’ll be happy if the players perform as well as they did today.”
