AS Roma reaches an agreement to bring Tammy Abraham from Chelsea to Italy

Serie A AS Roma have reached an agreement with the club and the player to bring Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham to the Italian capital.

Blues fights

English hitman Abraham, of course, has just come out of a totally difficult season at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a relatively fruitful opening to the season, moving in and out of Chelsea’s starting XI under the supervision of now-former boss Frank Lampard.

However, when Thomas Tuchel settled into the bank in West London after the turn of the year, Abraham’s playing time fell off a cliff.

Amid competition from players like Olivier Giroud and summer arrivals Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, the English international made four insignificant appearances, all from the bench, between mid-February and the end of the season.

SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND – FEBRUARY 20: Tammy Abraham of Chelsea is challenged by Mohammed Salisu of Southampton during the Premier League match between Southampton and Chelsea at St Mary’s Stadium on February 20, 2021 in Southampton, England. Sports stadiums across the UK remain under strict restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, as government social distancing laws prohibit fans within venues, causing games to be played behind closed doors. Such problems, in turn, saw Abraham miss a spot on Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020 this summer, a blow amid the Three Lions’ failed quest for a first silver piece in more than half. century.

Rome bound

However, Abraham’s situation at Stamford Bridge has continued to deteriorate since then.

First, earlier this week, Chelsea made a big deal to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club from Inter Milan, with the Belgian poised to take the place of the first-choice center forward in Thomas Tuchel’s attack.

Then even though Lukaku hadn’t even taken his place among the Blues squad, Abraham was an unused substitute en route to the 3-0 takedown of Crystal Palace on the club’s opening day earlier today.

However, as described above, if the last word that is rapidly spreading through the European media tonight is something to go through, then the problems of the English hitman in West London appear to be coming to an imminent end.

As first reported by Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, and since backed by Fabrizio Romano, Abraham has agreed to move to the Serie A team, AS Roma.

In turn, an agreement has been reached with Chelsea, which will ensure that pensioners secure 40 million euros, which is not bad:

In the meantime, a number of additional updates have also been provided, with Abraham set to fly to Rome tomorrow afternoon, to write a contract worth € 4/5 million per season.

Chelsea, for its part, will not lose full control of the future of its young attacker, although the agreement will include a buyback clause of 80 million euros:

Abraham will, of course, associate with a number of familiar faces in the Italian capital, with all former Chelsea manager José Mourinho, former Blues teammate Pedro and English international Chris Smalling currently earning their livelihood at the Olympic Stadium.
