Tottenham manager Nuno Espírito Santo continues to seek solutions to improve the first team squad at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, and the club is now linked with interest in Pau Torres, Villarreal’s Spanish international center-back.

As reported by Times Sports Paul Hurst by Veronics Brunati, the Spurs are looking to continue to improve their bottom line after losing stalwarts Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen this summer.
The club has already signed Atalanta Bergamo’s Argentine international Cristian Romero this summer in a deal that cost the club € 55 million with new Director of Soccer Fabio Paratici starting off with an impressive move to propel the club forward.
However, interest in Torres should come as no surprise despite the Romero deal, as Tottenham have been linked to additional recruitment of center-backs throughout the summer.
Tottenham is still negotiating for Cristian Romero, but there is still no agreement on the 55 million euro fee: he is the priority. 100%. ⚪️ #THFC
Plan B: open conversations to sign 3 different defenders with the same number. Tomiyasu [€18m], Milenkovic [€15m] and Zouma [€25m].
Caleta-Car, not even an option.
– Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 26, 2021
Fabrizio Romano mentioned that the club was tracking down players like Japanese Bologna international Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fiorentina Serb standout Nikola Milenković and Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma. Other links to Jules Kounde’s interest in Sevilla were discussed, but news of interest in Torres undoubtedly puts an end to that.
If Torres were acquired, it would mean a combined £ 100 million pair at the heart of the defense, with solid depth behind in the line of Davinson Sánchez, Eric Dier, Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Considerable options at the rear would give Espírito Santo tactical options in his first season at Tottenham, allowing him to potentially deploy both a three- and four-deployment based on certain requirements. It remains to be seen how the Spurs handle the rest of the window, but their willingness to spend under the Espírito Santo-Paratici tandem is certainly encouraging.
