Brentford fans show class with a gesture as Bukayo Saka returns from Arsenal

The meeting between Brentford and Arsenal tonight lit up early in the second half, courtesy of a class moment from the former’s fan base.

Canos on target

Of course, the Bees and Gunners are currently in action at Brentford Community Stadium.

The clash marks the opening game of the new Premier League campaign, ahead of a highly anticipated weekend that will no doubt be equally dramatic and full of goals.

And, if the first signs in West London are anything to go by, then a couple of crashes could also be at stake in the English top flight in the next few days.

This comes with Brentford, in the club’s first outing in the Premier League, currently leading Arsenal by a goal to nil.

The lone goal of the night thus far came in 22 minutes, when a messy defensive sequence by the visitors finally culminated with Sergi Canos cutting inside from the left, to whip on Bernd Leno’s near post:

Saka’s standing ovation

However, as described above, Canos’ first match has proven to be far from the only talking point amid an entertaining adventure in the capital on Friday.

Elsewhere, early in the second half, the Brentford faithful showed their class, after Arsenal player Bukayo Saka was introduced to the fray.

The occasion, of course, marks Saka’s first appearance since his decisive failure on the Euro 2020 penalty shootout, which ultimately cost England a shot at glory, and sparked a barrage of horrific racial abuse targeting the promising prospect. Arsenal band player.

The significance of Saka’s return on Sunday, in turn, evidently did not go unnoticed by attendees at Brentford Community Stadium, with fans, both home and away, having given the Gunners star a standing ovation, in a moving class and union gesture:
