A new insight into the transfer plans of Premier League team Arsenal will go online on Thursday afternoon.

Arteta looking at reinforcements

The subject of the offensive midfield position at the Emirates has, of course, been at the center of media talk about the later part of the 2020/21 campaign coming to a close.

This comes with Arsenal having struggled for core creativity for much of a disappointing season.

The eventual appearance of Emile Smith Rowe turned out to be a huge plus, while Martin Odegaard did a solid, if unspectacular, job following his arrival on loan during the January window.

Mikel Arteta, however, is evidently of the opinion that his team still needs another spark.

This, in turn, led the board in north London to sanction a big money raid for Norwich City star Emi Buendia in early summer. In the end, however, Arsenal was somewhat surprisingly defeated to the signing of the Argentine by Aston Villa, rivals of the Premier League.

Aouar and Odegaard looked

However, if the last word in the media is something to go through, then the Gunners’ search for creative reinforcements is still very much alive.

Of course, the name that was primarily proposed for an Emirates change has come in the form of Leicester City standout James Maddison.

Yet amid the Foxes’ unwavering stance that their midfield star won’t be able to leave unless a big money offer is presented, Arsenal now appear to have turned their attention elsewhere.

According to a report by The Athletic’s trusty James McNicholas, despite having fans at the Emirates, Maddison “is not someone Arsenal are seriously pursuing right now.”

Instead, the aforementioned Odegaard, of course familiar to Mikel Arteta and company, has resurfaced as the Gunners’ number one summer target.

Arsenal are said to have made it clear that they are willing to spend the money necessary to attract the Norwegian back to the club, although knowing that if a move is to bear fruit, Odegaard himself will likely have to force Real Madrid. . hand.

Meanwhile, the latest in The Athletic update is confirmation that the name of Houssem Aouar, who for so long was proposed for a change in North London, is now back on the Arsenal agenda.

The Frenchman, who at one point last summer appeared to be close to exchanging his home country for England, is seen as a possible addition to a bargain in the coming weeks, at just € 25 million.

The Gunners, however, could even launch a daring loan bust, amid lingering ‘concerns’ about Aouar’s profile.
