Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers provided a late update on his team’s fitness on Thursday.
Back in action
The Foxes will, of course, join their 19 Premier League counterparts to kick-start their respective national campaigns this weekend.
Rodgers and company will face a meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a kick-off at 3pm at King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Leicester is ready to head into not just its first game, but the campaign as a whole, desperate to start from the heartache of the past two seasons, in which the East Midlands team fell at the last hurdle in their quest for a top. -4 bunk beds.
However, the King Power management, to their credit, has done a good job of strengthening the club’s roster to this point in the summer.
All of Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare and Ryan Bertrand have addressed King Power for the past month, ahead of what could be a very fruitful season to come.
However, as described above, on Thursday, Brendan Rodgers provided fitness updates on some of the older members of his squad.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Leicester’s upcoming meeting with the Wolves, the club boss was drawn to the well-being of Timothy Castagne, who suffered an eye injury amid his efforts with Belgium at the European Championship. :
‘We’re just going to make a final decision on Timothy tomorrow (Friday). He has trained well this week. Obviously he has been doing some physical preparation work without joining the team and then this week he has joined. ”
“ He’s got his mask on now that he’s comfortable and he’s done pretty much everything he wanted and we’d like to see to get in on the game, so we’ll have a chat tomorrow after training, just to see how he feels. ” and then we’ll drink from there. ‘
The following was an update on Jonny Evans, who, as expected, looks set to remain on the sidelines until after the international break:
Jonny was on the field today. The plan for him was always after the international break. He’s doing multidirectional work and we’re just assessing the pain of that. The schedule for him is after the international break.
Finally, on Harvey Barnes, Rodgers concluded:
‘He is a great player for us. Obviously, he’s not physically up to date at the moment, but just to get him back … he just gives you a big threat. He did very well last weekend and day by day, he is improving physically. ”
Before the first game of the Foxes’ Premier League this Saturday, the coach has reported on the injuries of Castagne, Evans and Fofana 👇
