Nemanja Matic describes what Manchester United’s goal should be for 2021/22

Man United 2020/21

Manchester United’s 2020/21 season would finally end disappointingly.

After failing to get out of their Champions League group, the Red Devils made it all the way to the Europa League final, before losing to Villarreal.

United also failed to win either the FA Cup or the League Cup, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with no trophies to show for two and a half seasons in charge of the club.

The Manchester giants did manage to finish 2North Dakota on the Premier League table, but they didn’t exactly pose a title challenge, 12 points behind eventual champion Man City.

United, however, have beefed up their squad in some key positions this summer.

The Reds have been missing an elite right-winger for some time, but that issue has been addressed with the arrival of Jadon Sancho.

The Manchester team also desperately needed to update Victor Lindelof, which they did by signing Raphael Varane.

They’ve managed to keep Edinson Cavani for another campaign too, and if he can start this season like the last one ended, United should have a really impressive number 9 on their books, something they lacked in the first half of 2020./21 when Anthony Martial he was failing and Cavani was struggling to stay fit.

Matic on what the goal of Man United should be

Man United will begin its 2021/22 season next Saturday.

The Red Devils will play host to bitter rivals Leeds United for the early start of the day.

Before her season begins, Nemanja Matic has outlined what Man United’s goal should be for 2021/22.

And, with Matic’s view that United have two or three top-tier players in each position now, he believes that the Manchester team’s goal for the season should be a trophy:

“As you know, we did not win the Europa League in the end, but I think we have taken a step forward and the team is improving.

“This season we have to challenge for every trophy and finally win something, because we need that trophy. After that, we hope it will be easier, the team should feel that [winning] energy and I’m happy with how everything went.

“The most important thing is that everyone can see that we are improving and that we are playing better and better, and above all now we have such a good squad. In each position we have two or three top-level players. Everyone should be positive and the goal for us this season should be a trophy ”.
